It's the LawMove Over Law. This new and needed statute requires that if an emergency vehicle is stopped on the side of a 4 lane road, you move to the far lane. Makes sense, and most of us do it already. This just applies penalties for failure to move over. The State Safety Coordinating Committee plans to introduce legislation to clarify and strengthen this law. School Buses. On a two lane road, both lanes stop when a school bus has the Stop Sign out. On a divided highway, only the two lanes in which the bus is located must stop. The new law increases penalties, and allows a bus driver to report violators. And report they do – using cell phones, turning in license plate numbers. |
