CHURCH: We attend Springville First United Methodist Church, and are active members.

OCCUPATION: I am a doctor of Optometry, and retired from active practice, although I maintain my license.

EDUCATION: I graduated from Springville High, did my undergraduate work at Birmingham-Southern College, and received my doctorate from the University of Houston.

MILITARY: My first duty station was at Newport, R.I. Naval Hospital. Next I attended Counter Insurgency School in Little Creek, VA. I spent a year in a field hospital in Viet Nam. My final year was at Camp Lejeune, N.C. The award of which I am most proud is the Navy Commendation with Combat ‘V’.

CAREER: I practiced optometry in Guntersville for a short time prior to entering the U.S.
Navy Medical Service Corps. After the Navy I taught at UAB for 6 years, and joined my father in practice in Leeds. That practice was later moved to Moody. Upon election to the Alabama Legislature I retired from private practice.

POLITICAL: I am in my second four year term. My first foray for public office was in 2002 and I was elected to the Alabama Legislature. I was unopposed for reelection in 2006. I am an active member of the St. Clair County Republican Party.
