Welcome to your Web Site. The purpose of jimmcclendon.org is to improve contact with the citizens I serve. It is amazing how often constituents call and begin the conversation with an apology for calling. Hopefully this will be an information source for you about House District 50, and a way for you to communicate with your legislator.

Since I have proclaimed this to be your web page, I welcome suggestions about content. If there is a topic that needs to be added, speak up.

The buttons on the left of this page are intended to help you find your way around without perusing topics in which you have no interest.

My intention is for this site to pertain to House District 50, the Alabama Legislature, and the Alabama political scene only as it impacts the citizens of this district.

This is not the place for sports, share recipes, gardening tips, or do he-said-she-said. I do want to address education, taxes, highways, dead beat dads, constituent services, and appropriate topics of interest to you. Correction of injustice should be a corner stone of public service.

The veil of anonymity is always suspect, and transparency is preferred, if not required. I may peruse anonymous comments, but probably will not respond. I will provide my name and town, and ask that you do the same. Cutesy email addresses don’t count as name and town.

There are two links on this site that do not directly relate to District 50 or Alabama politics, and they are Worthy Causes and Guffaws. Worthy Causes is my bully pulpit to promote those institutions and efforts that I deem worthy of promotion, and Guffaws is a compendium of goofy things I have overheard mostly in Montgomery. Contributors to Guffaws will be kept in confidence.

Open government composed of honest forthright participants is a reasonable expectation. My hope is that this site contributes to that effort.
